Gold Coast V Crows 8.12 (60) - 8.6 (54)

Gold Coast maintained their winning streak, securing a tense six-point victory over Adelaide despite a late surge from the Crows. Matt Rowell shone for the Suns with 29 disposals, displaying resilience against Adelaide's midfield pressure. Co-captain Touk Miller and teammates Sam Flanders and Noah Anderson contributed significantly in midfield battles. Gold Coast dominated early, holding Adelaide to just one first-half goal. A spirited comeback led by Josh Rachele and Izak Rankine threatened the Suns' lead in the final quarter. Despite the pressure, Gold Coast's defensive efforts, notably from Wil Powell and Charlie Ballard, ensured victory. The match was characterised by intense physicality, exemplified by Nick Holman's injury and Tom Berry's crucial tackle in the last minutes.

Ultimately, Gold Coast's relentless pressure and efficient ball movement secured them the hard-fought win, marking a promising start to their season. The crows on the other hand, should take credit for their late comback and bring spirit into round 2.

Port Adelaide V West Coast 16.24 (120) - 10.10 (70)

In a compelling season opener, Port Adelaide's Connor Rozee and Zak Butters, assuming their new leadership roles, led the charge as the Power cruised to a commanding 50-point victory over West Coast. Combining Rozee's 27 disposals and two goals with Butters' dynamic performance of 27 touches and a goal, it set the tone for Port's dominance. Supported by midfielders like Jason Horne-Francis and Willem Drew, Port overwhelmed the Eagles across the field. Charlie Dixon's three goals and the solid contribution of recruit Ivan Soldo further reinforced Port's superiority. Despite a brief resurgence from West Coast, Port maintained control, ultimately sealing the win with a final-quarter surge.

The match concluded with a resounding 16.24 (120) to 10.10 (70) victory for Port Adelaide, signaling a promising start to their season in front of a fervent home crowd of 34,078 at Adelaide Oval.
